Hisab Kitab – Expense Tracker ("the app", "we", "us") is built with your privacy as a first principle. This policy explains exactly what data the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
01Data we store
The app stores the financial records you enter — transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, goals, investments, subscriptions, payment alarms, and the customization preferences you choose (currency, theme, language, etc.). It also stores an optional profile name and, if you enable App Lock, a hashed PIN and biometric preference.
02Local-only mode
If you choose "Continue without an account", all data is stored only on this device using on-device SQLite and Secure Storage. Nothing is uploaded, no account is created, and we have no way to read it. Uninstalling the app removes this data permanently — use Export to keep a backup.
03Cloud accounts
If you create a cloud account, your email and your records are stored in our database (hosted on Supabase) so they can sync across your devices. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by the database provider. Access is restricted to your account via row-level security policies — other signed-in users cannot read your rows. Receipt photos live in a private storage bucket and are served via short-lived signed URLs. Your PIN never leaves this device; biometric data is managed by your operating system and is never sent to our servers.
04Information we do NOT collect
- We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
- We do not share your transactions with advertisers.
- We do not run third-party advertising networks or cross-app tracking SDKs. (See section 11 for the one diagnostic exception: anonymous crash reporting.)
- We do not access your contacts, photos (other than receipts you explicitly attach), location, microphone, or call/SMS data.
05Permissions explained
- Notifications — used for payment alarms, budget alerts, and reminders you opt into.
- Biometrics — only used locally to unlock the app when you enable App Lock; the biometric never leaves the device.
- Camera / Photo Library — only when you choose to attach a receipt photo to a transaction.
- Storage — only when you Export or Import a backup file.
06Ads & purchases
This version of the app is free to use. It does not display ads and does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions.
07Your rights
You can export all your data at any time (Profile → Export). You can permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data from Profile → Delete Account (scroll to the bottom of the Profile screen), or by visiting our account deletion page. Local-only data is removed when you uninstall the app.
08Children
Hisab Kitab – Expense Tracker is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
09Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
10Contact

11Crash reporting & diagnostics
To keep the app stable, builds with crash reporting enabled send anonymous diagnostic reports to Sentry (a third-party error-monitoring service) when the app crashes or hits an error. These reports contain only technical details — error type and stack trace, app version, device model and OS — plus a random identifier. They do not include your financial data, transaction contents, balances, email, name, or any screen contents (screenshots, view hierarchy, and default personal data are turned off). This data is used solely to find and fix bugs, is never sold or used for advertising, and is not collected at all in builds where crash reporting is disabled.
